Chrysostomos A. Nicopoulos

Penn State University

Chrysostomos A. Nicopoulos received his B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering (with a minor in Mathematics) from the Pennsylvania State University in 2003. He is currently pursuing a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering at Penn State. He works in the Microsystems Design Laboratory (MDL) in the Computer Science and Engineering Department under the supervision of Dr. Vijaykrishnan Narayanan. Chrysostomos has been actively involved in the research of packet-based Networks-on-Chip (NoC). He is particularly interested in the "golden" optimization triptych of AREA, POWER, and PERFORMANCE, and he is currently exploring the following areas: (1) High-performance, low-power, and fault-tolerant NoC router architectures, (2) On-chip network topologies, (3) Application mapping to NoC-based designs, and (4) Performance evaluation of NoCs using workload traces. In addition to on-chip interconnects, his research interests also include: digital systems design, high-performance, power-efficient and reliable VLSI architectures, fault-tolerant SoC design and integration, three-dimensional (3D) circuit implementations, and computer architecture.
