Title:

Power Management Techniques for Energy Harvesting Embedded Systems

Abstract:

Energy harvesting is getting increased attention not only in wireless sensor network applications but also in consumer embedded applications. In energy harvesting embedded systems, it is important to maintain high efficiency when using energy generation sources. This high efficiency can be obtained by a high generating efficiency or a high transferring efficiency. Conventional maximum power point tracking (MPPT) techniques do not consider the transferring efficiency in a multiple load system. In this talk, we discuss a technique for improving the energy transferring efficiency by minimizing the power losses in DC-DC converters and chargers of the system with considering the power consumptions in multiple loads.
