Title:

Challenges of Mobile Application Processor Development

Abstract:

Developing an Application Processor (AP) for mobile devices is a complicated business. Each new generation of APs must be able to handle more demanding user scenarios and incorporate higher feature requirements. This means more performance from each new generation of APs, but at low energy consumption due to battery capacity requirement. In addition to higher energy efficiency requirement, real-time concurrent user scenarios make QoS (Quality of Service) another challenge, posing another dimension of problems to SoC architecture. Keeping IP development with right requirements that is aligned to relevant AP development schedule is another challenge. This talk discusses the mobile AP business landscape and various challenges of developing a competitive AP demanded by mobile devices.
