Bio:

Dr. Masaharu Imai received B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Nagoya University, Nagoya, Japan in 1974, then M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Information Science from Nagoya University in 1976 and 1979, respectively. From April 1979 through March 1996, he has been with the Department of Information and Computer Sciences, Toyohashi University of Technology, Toyohashi, Japan, where his final title was a professor. He has been a visiting professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, School of Engineering, University of South Carolina, Columbia, SC, U.S.A. from 1984 to 1985. From April 1996 to March 2002, he has been a professor in the Department of Information and Mathematical Science, Graduate School of Engineering Science, Osaka University, Osaka, Japan. From April 2002 to present, he has been a professor in the Department of Information Systems Engineering, Graduate School of Information Science and Technology, Osaka University, Osaka, Japan. From April 2005 to present, he has been the founder and CTO of ASIP Solutions, Inc. His research interest includes System Level Design Methodology of Embedded Systems, Design Automation of Electronic Systems, ASIP (Application domain Specific Instruction set Processor) Development System, and application of VLSI technology to medical/healthcare systems. He has published many technical papers and books. He also holds about ten patents. He has been working as an organizing member, such as General Chair, SC and OC member, TPC chair and TPC member, for many international and domestic conferences, including ASP-DAC (Asia and South Pacific Design Automation Conference), ICCAD (International Conference on Computer Aided Design), SASIMI (workshop on Synthesis And System Integration of Mixed Information technologies), APCHDL (Asia Pacific Conference on Hardware Description Language). He also serves as an ASP-DAC liaison to DATE (Design, Automation & Test in Europe) conference. He is a Silver Core member of IFIP (International Federation for Information Processing), fellow of IEICE (Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers) of Japan, fellow of IPSJ (Information Processing Society of Japan), and member of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) and ACM (Association for Computing Machinery).
