Title:

Towards the reliability estimation of embedded computing systems: a cross-layer approach

Abstract:

Embedded systems in application domains, like the aerospace or space domains have to fulfill high dependability requirements. But the continuous pace of technology scaling poses severe challenges on the reliability of future embedded systems. Being able to estimate the reliability of a system early in its design phases becomes more important than ever. CLERECO is an EU FP7 research project which addresses the problem of having an early, and fast, evaluation of computing systems reliability to drive the design of reliability enhancing mechanisms. This talk will introduce the objectives of the project, and the principle of the methodology developed in the project.

Bio:

Arnaud Grasset is a senior research engineer at Thales Research & Technology. He received the M.S. degree in electrical engineering from the Institut National des Sciences Appliquees de Lyon, France, in 2002, and the Ph.D. degree from the Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble, France, in 2006. He joined Thales Research & Technology, in 2006, where he worked in the areas of dependability and fault-tolerant computing. His research interests include IC reliability and fault tolerant computing, multi-core processors for real-time embedded systems, HW accelerators, dynamically reconfigurable architectures, and system-level design of MPSoCs.
