The design approach of A64FX processor
Abstract
The supercomputer Fugaku is being developed by Riken and Fujitsu as the next generation flagship supercomputer of Japan, aiming to run a wide range of applications that will address social and scientific issues of high priority. A64FX, the processor of Fugaku system, has been developed to enable these applications to run 100+ times faster than previous system, K computer, with much better power efficiency. In this talk, the design approach of A64FX is presented with some preliminary performance results.
Biography
Akira Asato is a Principal Expert of Processor System Business Unit at FUJITSU. Since he joined FUJITSU in 1983, he has been involved in many research and development projects including national flagship supercomputers in Japan (K-computer and Fugaku). Since 2019, he has been the chairman of the Technical Committee on Reliability of IEICE.
