Accelerating OpenFlow SDN Switches with Per-Port Cache

Abstract:

We propose a per-port cache architecture for speeding up flow table lookup in an OpenFlow switch. Taking advantage of spatial and temporal localities of internet packets in and out of a switch, our design improve both turn around time and throughput. In this presentation, we describe our experiment setup that consists of hardware-software co-simulation and network simulators. Finally, we show some measurement results over both synthetic and real internet traffic.
