Design Space Exploration for Accelerators in Baseband Computing

Abstract

The future baseband computing systems demand high performance growth with tight constraints in the cost and power budget. In the absence of Moore’s law and Dennard scaling, computer architects are relying on architecture specialization in preference to traditional general purpose systems. However, pursuing the most suitable architecture for specific applications require long lead-times and high development costs. In this talk, we will share some technical challenges that we are facing in order to explore the specialized computing units with the right granularity.

Biography

Arief Wicaksana received his Engineering and PhD degree in Computer Engineering from Grenoble Alpes University, France, in 2015 and 2018. He is currently a Senior Research Engineer in the Wireless group, Huawei Zurich Research Center. In the past, he was working as a research engineer at CEA-List and CPU performance engineer at ARM France. He has published articles in several peer-reviewed conferences. His research interests include hardware/software co-design, specialized computing acceleration, performance analysis/modeling and virtual prototyping. He is a member of IEEE.
