Simulation-Supported Agile Governance for Robot and Drone Deployment on a University Campus
Abstract
Ritsumeikan University is pioneering the deployment of autonomous robots and drones for delivery and security purposes on campus. However, guidelines for the deployment and operation of autonomous robots/drones, including protocols for accidents and responsibilities, remain undefined. We have been studying “Agile Governance” for autonomous robots/drones, aimed at continuously updating the guidelines while in operation. This talk will describe Ritsumeikan University’s agile governance for robot and drone deployment, along with an efficient virtual simulation platform. The simulation facilitates conformance testing, accident replication, and validation of virtual scenarios.
