Title:

Reliability Challenges of Critical Embedded Systems: a System-Provider Perspective

Abstract:

High-performance and power-efficient processors are now commonly used in critical real-time embedded systems driven by the increasing integration of more and more functions. However, such systems have also to fulfill the high dependability requirements being set in mission-critical and safety-critical domains. But the continuous downscaling of CMOS technologies is more than ever posing severe challenges on the reliability of future embedded systems. The current technology trends lead to a strong reduction of the reliability. This talk will present the industrial perspectives and the challenges of the design of dependable embedded systems on top of less and less reliable hardware platform.
