Title:

Applications Security in IoT

Abstract:

Security becomes very important with the imminent adoption of Internet of Things (IoT). Signs of the new era in which various kinds of devices will be interconnected are all around us: the TV connected to the Internet, the thermostat controllable from phone, smart meters sending power consumption information over the internet, and more other examples. This amazing progress comes with challenges. If someone hacks into a home network system, then he has access to the computer, critical and confidential information. And this is just the visible part of the iceberg. Smart traffic grid connected to the city infrastructure, the electric grid or the water supply become vulnerable to cyber-attacks. In addition, in the future, a car can be hacked and controlled, either putting users in danger or exposing confidential information. These vulnerabilities represent a real concern that has to be addressed. Applications that run on all these interconnected devices represent a window to data. By tampering with the applications, hackers can get access to confidential information, modify credentials or control the entire system. This reflects the obvious and common need for effective and robust solutions to protect and safeguard the integrity of both the applications and data. In this presentation, we will discuss the challenges and solutions for applications and data security in IoT.
