Abstract

We describe how to accelerate encoding of ultra high definition video by 100X. The most time consuming part of motion estimation is mapped to GPGPU taking advantages of thousands of SIMD cores. The remains tasks are processed in a pipelined scheme using multiple cores. We will also present how to address memory allocation and data movement issues so that all cores are highly utilized.
